Recently announced as one of the top 50 design firms in the U.S. by ARCHITECT Magazine, renowned architecture firm Leers Weinzapfel Associates (LWA) tapped 67a2 Media to design and build their new website portfolio. Being one of the top firms in the country meant that their website needed to have all of the capabilities one expects in a modern architecture website… user-friendly navigation, visually rich pages, images that load quickly, and a customized WordPress dashboard.
The new LWA site accomplishes these goals and more by utilizing horizontally scrolling image sets that allow their projects to be easily browsed, and highlights their work across various project types. The scrolling sets allows LWA to show their high quality project photography at full size, without the need to crop and limit their impact. Images load on demand once they are scrolled into the viewport, keeping loading processes to a minimum, while a Content Delivery Network (CDN) keeps the download time short. Maintaining the precise proportions of the photography was of paramount importance, and is equally resolved in the masonry-style project typology pages. Not needing to crop images allows for easy site updates (just upload the images and forget about it!), while providing a visually rich, loose, and dynamic layout.
Beyond projects, the site dives into the inner workings of the firm, with pages on process, office culture, and leadership profiles. In the end, the new LWA site offers visitors a glimpse into the process and production of their award winning work.
